Sarnatech BNL thermoplastic
rolling-element bearings offer a new perspective in machine design. These
injection-moulded bearing assemblies offer the combined benefits of a
rolling-element bearing with a design flexibility which permits pulleys,
rollers, precision gears, fixing clips etc to be integrated into the bearing
races. This capability leads to maximum functionality and whole system cost
savings.
The majority of Sarnatech BNL bearings are made from POM
(acetal). This semi-crystalline material has excellent inherent lubricity and
remarkable fatigue performance - its close
crystalline structure also offers good chemical resistance and makes it
impervious to water absorption When injection moulding this material, a
thin surface layer consisting of ultra fine crystals is formed. Through
controlling this feature, bearing life can be significantly improved compared
with machined track surfaces.
Manufacturing tolerance
capabilities permit the manufacture of bearings with an outer diameter of up to
150mm. Bearing tracks can be controlled to a tolerance of better than +/-
0.1mm. This level of accuracy is far greater than is conventionally achieved
when injection moulding these materials and means that Sarnatech BNL bearings
are ideal in applications where high-speed, precise motion control is required.
One such application is the latest in digital printer/copiers which operate at
speeds of up to 65cpm and require precise paper handling to achieve optimum
picture quality and avoid annoying paper jams.
Some of
the many other sectors, which have benefited from using Sarnatech BNL bearings
include automotive, business/banking machines, domestic appliances, food processing,
mail sorting, photographic, pool/spa, and vending.
